Gladys Lavina Gardner was born March 1, 1905 in Milton, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Lavina Campbell Cles. She passed away Wednesday, July 11, 1990 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, having attained the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 10 days.
Gladys grew up and attended country school in Davis County, and attended Troy High School. She was united in marriage to Roy Garnder on April 24, 1924 in Missouri. She was employed by J.C. Penney Company in Grundy Center for a number of years, and then worked at Western Dressing until her retirement. She loved gardening, lawn care, and flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1965; her parents, 3 sisters, Lora Cles, Lera Dellinger, and Eula Sommers; and one brother, Harold Cles.
She is survived by one brother, Gerald Cles of Milton, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, 1990 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center at 10:30 a.m. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church, Grundy Center, Iowa.
