I think the census taker's writing fooled you. A study of the various census records would indicate she was born in Illinois. I believe you can find her in 1850 Mason County, Illinois on Page 167. Her parents were John and Elizabeth Edwards. You can find George and her in 1880 in Mason County on page 515. By then they had 2 additional daughters, Maud born 1872 and Myrtie born 1878.
