My family records indicate that Martha (Wilcox) Childs died March 30, 1860. The 1860 Census was done in July. In July when the census was done, her husband Thomes Wright Childs and 3 children resided - Indian Village Twp., Tama Co., Iowa.
I would like to find out when Thomas Childs left Iowa. My family record indicates that the baby Elizabeth Julia Childs, my g-grandmother, was 10 months old when her mother died. She was born May 27, 1859 in Iowa, she was about 13 months old when the census was done. A bonnet and cape that the baby wore on the trip back to Pennsylvania was handed down in the family.
What cemeteries are in that area ? Are there any records regarding epidemics in March 1860?
Is there a Historical or Genealogical Society in the area in 2003 that I could contact? I will start searching for U S Indian Affairs information also. Thank you for responding.
