THOMAS WRIGHT CHILDS - Indian Agent

I am looking for information regarding THOMAS WRIGHT CHILDS, born October 1, 1816, Pennsylvania.
He went to (somewhere) in Iowa to become an Indian Agent between 1857 and 1859. He took his wife and two sons with him from Pennsylvania. A daughter was born in Iowa. His wife died in an epedemic. He went back to Fairview, Erie County, PA with his two sons and baby daughter and spent the rest of his life there. Died May 7, 1888, Erie County,PA.
I am trying to find the area where they lived in Iowa, the history of the area and information about them. Also his wife Martha's burial place in Iowa.
