Joyce,

You didn't leave an email addy in your post, or I wouldn't waste the posting space with this reply. I have no query, or followup, just a 3 year late thank you, Joyce; if I got an automatice notification of a response, I missed it, and apparently I haven't been back to this Polk IA Genweb site for maybe 3 years. I did dig out a fair amount of info on the Polk and Dallas Co IA mines, both history and mine locations. I have Phildia located in the extreme NE corner of Dallas Co.

The people I'm working on were only there about 5 years, between Censuses. One couple did get married, apparently in Des Moines, but the Polk GenWeb apparently doesn't have any marriage records transcribed or indexed. I do have the personal story of the bride, however, who had a sharp memory late in life.

If you live near Des Moines, and get this posting, please let me know,
