Mrs. Sandvold Passed Away

Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon at Bergen Church

Mrs. Carrie Sandvold, who had been in ill health for the past year, died at her home in Roland Friday morning at six o’clock. She had been ill for the past year and her death was not unexpected.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the home and from Bergen Lutheran Church, of which she had been a lifelong member. Her pastor, Rev. M.O. Sumstad was in charge of the services and interment was made in the Roland cemetery. Special music consisted of a duet at the home by Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Boyd, and at the church a solo by Otto J. Hanson, and a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Boyd. Pall bearers were Dr. A.J. Snyder, O.S. Boyd, Orlin Holland, K.P. Teig, John T. Johnson and John Nelson.

Carrie Iverson Sandvold was born on the old Iverson homestead southeast of Roland on February 9, 1869, a daughter of Iver and Kari Iverson, and passed away at her home in Roland on April 18, 1941, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 9 days. She was baptized in the St. Petri Lutheran church near Story City, and confirmed in Bergen Lutheran church in Roland.

On May 19, 1892 she was united in marriage to Tom Sandvold, and to this union two sons were born, Iver, who passed away in 1911, and Juel, who survives his mother. Mr. Sandvold died in 1903. In 1909 she moved from the farm to Roland, with her brother, the late Oliver Iverson, and her tow sons, Iver and Juel. They moved back to the farm after three years, and in the fall of 1919, Mrs. Sandvold and Mr. Iverson again returned to Roland.

Besides her son Juel, she is survived by four grandchildren, Junior, David, Joan and Mary Ann.
Mrs. Sandvold was the last of eight children in the family, four of whom died in infancy, a sister, Mrs. Ole Hegland, died in 1913, a brother, Andrew in 1920, and another brother, Oliver, with whom she shared her home for many years, passed away in 1934.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Mary Iverson, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Iverson and C. T. Iverson of Belle Plaine, Mrs. Walter Wagner of Brooklyn, Mrs. Annie Richardson and Nels Richardson of Kelley, and Mrs. Harold Fjelland of Huxley.
