Funeral Services Held at Zearing for Mrs. Louis Lutz

Special to the Journal
Zearing, April 12--The Church of Christ in Zearing was filled to capacity last Thursday to pay last respects to Mrs. Louis Lutz. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. George Manning, former minister of the local church.

Pearl Delene Moore, daughter Etna F. and Martha Moore, was born on a farm three miles north of Zearing, June 6, 1899 and departed this life at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown on April 1, 1941, at the age of 41 years, 9 months and 26 days.

When 13 years of age she moved with her parents into Zearing. She graduated from the Zearing high school in 1917. She united with the Grant Center Christian church on October 12, 1911 and later transferred her membership to the Church of Christ in Zearing.

On June 27, 1917, she was united in marriage to Louis C. Lutz of Zearing at Toledo. They built their home on a farm three and one-half miles south of Zearing where she lived until her death.

Mrs. Lutz was the mother of seven children, all of whom with the husband survive her. The children are Lucille Lutz of Keosauqua, Mrs. Verda Rhodes of Colo, Audrey, John, Ronald, Glenn and Darlene, all at home. She also leaves her father, E. F. Moore of Zearing, brothers Lester Moore of Winnebago, Minn., Leonard Moore of Bedford, Lee Moore of Zearing, sisters, Mrs. Iva Rosen of Marshalltown; Mrs. Elsie Bailey and Mrs. Nellie Manning of Zearing, and one grandchild, Larry Rhodes of Colo. Her mother, one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lutz had been in poor health for some time and had been confined to her bed for more than seven weeks before going to the Deaconess hospital where she remained until her passing. She was a kind and faithful wife and mother and was respected by all who knew her. Her presence will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The many lovely floral bouquets bespoke the esteem of her loved ones.

A quartet composed of Miss Vanetta Carver, Mrs. Lester Becker and Gordon Lundy and Dale Johnston accompanied at the piano by Mrs. F. G. Lundy sang a number of appropriate hymns.

The floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Roy Snover, Mrs. Ray Alcorn and Miss Nellie Rahfeldt.

Pallbearers were Roy Snover, Ray Alcorn, August Cerka, Eddie Rahfeldt, Clarence Bump and Charlie Jay of Colo.

Among relatives attending the rites were Miss Lucille Lutz of Keosaqua; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rhodes of Colo, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Moore, Mary and Josephine of Bedford, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Moore of Winnebago, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rosen of Marshalltown, Mrs. Marie Moore of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Enlow Bailey of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Calvin Voogd of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Delos Anderson and Lena Maye of Hubbard, Mr. and Mrs. Will Madale, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Eisman of Britt, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Miller, Mrs. Effie Miller, Seth Miller of Eldora, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Miller, Mrs. Josie Perry Miller of Whitten, besides a host of friends from Nevada, Colo and New Providence and other places.
