Hi Janet,

This is a tough one. In the 1870 Federal Census there is an Otto Kundel, 64 yrs, living with John & Lina Kundel. Their children were named as Emma & Heinrich. They were living in Sheridan Twp., Scott Co. I found evident that John Kundel & family continued to live in Sheridan Twp, Scott County for some time.

Trying the Free Find Search, located on the home page of Scott Co. IAGenWeb site, nothing comes up for Otto Kundel. Nor is he listed in the WPA cemeteries list.

Maybe Otto went to stay with another of his children?

You could try contacting the Scott Co. Genealogical Society for help. see http://iagenweb.org/scott/resources/scigs.html
Maybe a probate record for him could be found.
