Thank you for your response and input - every lead is appreciated. I have seen a variation of Rihner with a Y i.e. Rhyner. Also, some variations of Ruch e.g. Rush and Roush (but those appear to be errors). Samuel Rhyner/Rihner and Catherine/Katherine/Katherina Ruch are from Switzerland. He was a cheesemaker among other trades he picked up. Again thanks. Paul
