I too am researching Soldiers Orphans Home which was renamed Annie Wittenmyer Home. My grandfather was placed in this home in 1890 when he was 6 months old after my great grandfather died. I am awaiting a response regarding my grandfather's birth certificate because one of the affidivat's on it shows records from the home were produced. I understand that it was destroyed in a home - but can't remember when and apparently the records in there were destroyed. Have you found out anything yet?
