The Davenport papers of Last Wednesday mention a severe, but not fatal injury, to the wife and child of Mr. David N. Richardson, of the Democrat, by the bursting of a fluid lamp. It appears that on Monday evening as he was sitting before the fire holding in his arms their child, Mrs. R. passed by him carrying a glass fluid lamp. One wick accidentally dropped in the lamp setting fire to the fluid, which instantly exploded the lamp, scattering the burning fluid on Mr. R. and the child. He dropped the child to save his wife, and tearing the burning clothes from her, soon effected relief. His hands, arms and face were burned, but not seriously. The child was burned in all its exposed parts, but will recover.
