A Deserter Shot at Davenport – The Waterloo Courier says Deputy Provost Marshall Covert, of that place, took to Davenport last week, a deserter from an Indiana regiment, who was picked up in Blackhawk County, he had deserted the second time , and as soon as he reached Davenport a court marshal ordered him to be shot, which order was immediately executed . We have seen no mention of this in the Davenport papers.
