Hayes Marriage

My great grandmother was Ina Catherine Hayes. She was born in Ringgold County, Iowa in 1889 (though one census showed 1887). A posted genealogy on the internet shows that her mother was Adeline Gregory and her father was George Hayes. They were purported to be married in 1885. I have not been able to find any record of the George Hayes. Adeline was remarried in 1890 to Joseph Naset and they settled first in Kansas, then Wisconsin. I am trying to identify the George Hayes and what happened to him. On one census, Ina stated that her father had been born in West Virginia. If anyone has any clues, please let me know.
