Memorial services were held for Edith Orretta Sissel at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas, WY on August 8, 1998, at 2 p.m. with Reverend David Dick officiating. Interment was in the Torrington Cemetery.
Edith died August 5, 1998, at her home in Douglas, WY.
She was born July 14, 1913, to Earl and Mary Knight at their farm in Kellerton, IA. She attended Woodland country school through the second grade. At that time in 1920, the family moved to Torrington, WY. She attended the Torrington public school for one year and then moved to a farm south of Torrington. She attended the Masters country school and then later entered school again in Torrington where she graduated in 1930. She lived in the Torrington area until 1980 when she moved to Douglas.
She married James Ralph Sissel on June 4, 1934, at Edina, MO. To this union two children were born: Betty Joyce James of Albany, OR and Evelyn Mae Jepson of Douglas, WY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, sister Viola Barrett and grandson, Craig Jepson.
Survivors include her daughters Betty Joyce and Evelyn Mae, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were the people who knew her.
A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizens Center, 340 First Street West, Douglas, WY 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
