Margaret Estella Beck was born in Gentryville, Missouri, October 31, 1862, and departed this life at her home in Kellerton November 5, 1913, after a brief illness, aged 51 years and five days. [Death certificate said peritonitis complicated by heart disease - peritonitis being a hole in the bowel or ruptured appendix]
On September 14, 1879, she was united in marriage to W. H. Baker and to this union were born seven children - Mrs. Nellie Stevens, Robert Baker, Mrs. Lizzie McConnell, Mrs. Florence Haynes, all of Grand River, and Lyman, Truman and Fern Baker who were still at home, and who mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. She also leaves to mourn the loss of a helpmate her husband, W. H. Baker, three sisters, two brothers and nine grandchildren. Three sisters, mother and father have preceded her to the better land.
From our midst has gone a loving mother, wife, companion and dear kind neighbor. She was a devout and earnest Christian, always willing to do do her part, having been a member of the Christian church for several years at this place. Mrs. Baker, before moving to Kellerton, had lived near Grand River, and since living here has made many friends. The funeral services were held from the Christian Church Friday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Pastor N. B Robbins, assisted by Rev. West. Interment was made in Woodmansee cemetery.
Mr. Baker and family wish to thank the neighbors and friends for their help and kindness during the sickness and on the occasion of the death of wife and mother.
