OBITUARY - JAMES "GLEN" MOLLOY
James Glen MOLLOY was born May 31, 1913, in Macon County, Missouri to [James] Irven and Dainie [Belle] O'DANIEL MOLLOY.
Glen grew up enjoying hunting and fishing. His mother passed away when he was 14 [1928] and he moved in with his older sister, Grace, and her husband, Elmer. Glen was a cross-country tracker until a bad wreck in 1962 made him partially disabled, leaving his left leg stiff with no knee joint. After nine months in the hospital Glen started a small business repairing chain saws and small engines in Panora, Iowa. As the business increased, he moved to Corning, Iowa and in 1973 he moved to the Ringgold County area where he stayed until his death except for one year in Shell Knob, Missouri.
In addition to hunting and fishing, Glen enjoyed cutting wood and cooking. The Iowa Hawkeyes were his favorite team. One of the highlights as a Hawkeye fan was personally attending their game at the Rose Bowl. He was excited about the local Diagonal team playing in the state tournament [the] next week.
Glen became ill in November but was able to stay in his own home with help until the last of January, 1989, when he entered the Mount Ayr Health Care Nursing Home, where he passed away March 10, 1989, at the age of 75 years, nine months and 10 days.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, and a third son, Jack MOLLOY; three sisters, Grace GEORGE, Enola ALLEN and Pearl SLOVER.
He is survived by his two sons, James Allen of Koboka, Missouri and Glen Ervin of Wilwaukee, Wisconsin, and seven daughters: Glenda ESTES of Locust Grove, Okla., Gladys DANIELS of Carthage, Ill., Thelma KUSSMAN of Lexington, Neb., Maureene GETTERHOFT of Lawson, Okla., Janet BARE of Milwaukee, Wis., Carol RISEN Of Virginia, and Ruthie KAY of Keokuk, Iowa; also many grandchildren, and one sister, Hazel LACEY of Muscatine, Iowa.
Funeral services were held March 12, 1909, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home at Diagonal, Iowa, conducted by Fr. John ZEITLER. Music was provided by pianist, Mrs. Claire NEWTON.
