Deva SHAFER, 91, of Mount Ayr died September 27, 2005, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 30, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Susan THOMAS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. There is open visitation after 10 a.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Mount Ayr. Memorials may be directed to Mount Ayr United Methodist Church or Mount Ayr Chapter of Hospice of Central Iowa.
Mrs. SHAFER, daughter of Dollie (SKIMHORN) and Albert FLETCHALL, was born July 13, 1914, in Grant City, Mo. She married Cecil SHAFER. She was a homemaker and member of Mount Ayr United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil (wife Trudi) SHAFER of Congress, Ariz., and Doyle (wife Marilyn) SHAFER of Grant City, Mo.; daughter Linda (husband Jack) KIRBY of Edgewater, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Naomi SHAFER of Redding and Dixie FLETCHALL of Grant City, Mo.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1989, grandson Walter SHAFER, brother Herman FLETCHALL, and three sisters, Elda MILLER, Mira MAUDLIN and Madie STABE.
