OBITUARY - MRS. SARAH J. GERMAN.

Sarah J. DILLION was born in Knox county, Pennsylvania, November 25, 1842, and departed this life July 14, 1927. She moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio when quite young, then later to Illinois where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to George W. GERMAN in the year 1862.

To this union were born six children, five boys and one girl. The husband and two sons, Thomas and Elmer preceded her in death. Those who survive her are Marion, of Benton, Iowa, Mrs. J. T. SHEIL, Frank and Samuel, of Mount Ayr.

She united with the M.E. church of Caledonia about the year 1887. She remained faithful to this faith and was known among her neighbors for her many acts of kindness. She was one of the aged widows who endured the harships of the civil war.

At the time of her husband's death she resided on the homestead in Lotts Creek township where she continued to live until about two years ago when, on account of failing health, she came to live with her daughter, Mrs. SHEIL, who cared for her during her long illness.

Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church by Rev. J. KIRKENDALL Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr].

NOTE: Thomas H. GERMAN, son of George W. and Sarah J. (DILLION), was born in 1868 and died at the age of 35 years and 17 days on February 8, 1903 with interment at Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa. Samuel E. GERMAN, son of George W. and Sarah J. (DILLION), was born in 1874 and died in 1958 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Marion GERMAN, son of George W. and Sarah J. (DILLION), was born on April 27, 1862 and died on February 8, 1945 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. Elmer German, son of George W. and Sarah J. (DILLION), was born 1866 and died in 1917 with interment at Ringgold Cemetery. Frank C. GERMAN, son of George W. and Sarah J. (DILLION), was born in 1872 and died in 1946 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
