DEATH of SAMUEL GALLOWAY.

Mr. Samuel GALLOWAY, an old Ringgold county citizen, died at his home in Tingley August 10, 1898, aged almost seventy-five years. Mr. GALLOWAY was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, December 15, 1823. He followed the trade of tailor for many years at Claysville in that state. In 1860 he was married to Ellen CHISWELL, and to them were born ten children, all of whom are living. Mr. GALLOWAY came to Ringgold county in 1872 and farmed and for years kept a hotel in Tingley. He was noted as a man of pleasant manners and gentlemanly ways. He met with a misfortune in 1863 in the loss of a leg when his team ran away with a reaper. Carrying this burden through life he manfully bore himself in the battle of life, and until the infirmities of old age gathered did what he could. The funeral services were held at the U. P. church and were conducted by Rev. Dr. John WILLIAMSON. Mr. GALLOWAY had for years been a respected member of the U. P. church at Tingley and was waiting for his change to come. Many personal friends attended his funeral on Thursday, August 11, 1898.

NOTE: Samuel GALLOWAY was interred at Tingley Cemetery, Tingley, Ringgold County, Iowa.
