The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1926

OBITUARY - MRS. LESTER GALLAUGHER.

Lorella Gertrude ABARR, youngest child of Daniel C. and Ann M. ABARR, was born March 17, 1880, near Redding, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Mount Ayr July 12, 1926, aged 46 years, three months and 26 days. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Redding and graduated from the Redding school. She chose teaching for her vocation and was a successful teacher in the rural schools of the county.

On October 7, 1903, she was married to Lester GALLAUGHER and resided for years on the farm south of Mount Ayr. To this union were born two children, James Vinton and Alice Ann, both of whom are at home.

Mrs. GALLAUGHER was converted and united with the Methodist church in her early girlhood and has been a faithful member, attending services as long as health permitted.

She was of a cheerful, loving disposition, always ready to speak a word of cheer or lend a helping hand.

She had been in poor health for a number of years and during her last illness of several months bore her suffering with great patience. Loving hands did all that could be done for her, but the Master saw fit to call her home, and she leaves to mourn her departure, besides her husband, son and daughter, her aged mother, Mrs. Ann M. ABARR, of Redding, six brothers and three sisters: C. E. ABARR, of Mount Ayr; S. W. and H. S. ABARR, of Redding; M. L. ABARR, of Albany, Mo.; A. J. ABARR, Clearfield, Iowa; R. D. ABARR, of Blockton, Iowa; Mrs. V. H. EDWARDS, of Abilene, Kan.; Mrs. A. N. PARKER, of Redding, Iowa; Mrs. Effie HOLLAND, of St. Louis, Mo., besides many nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Jay KIRKENDALL. Interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr, Iowa].

"For none return from these quiet shores,
Who cross with the boatman cold and pale,
We hear the dip of the golden oars,
And catch a gleam of the snowy sail,
And lo! they have passed from our yearing hearts
They cross the stream and are gone for aye,
We may not sunder the veil apart
That hides from our vision the gate of day.
We only know that their barks no more
May sail with us o'er life's stormy sea,
Yet somewhere I know on that unseen shore
They watch and beckon and wait for me."

CARD OF THANKS.

Words cannot express our thanks to our friends and neighbors for their kindness and the thoughtfulness during the sickness and death of our wife and mother. We especially thank those that brought flowers to help brighten her path in the last months of her sickness.
