in regards to Charity Lowe...she was mother to John Lowe Butler...she was born Jan 13 1782 in N. Carolina......I am curious if anyone knows what race she was...John D. Lee quotes John Lowe Butler as saying, "I am half-white and freeborn"............there's is nothing in his own bio. about his mother's race....I am assuming that James...John Lowe Butlers father was white but maybe he's not...can someone help me solve this puzzle...I've seen her referred to as Charity Lowe Gilleland also....can anyone explain this to me??? thanks in advance...
