Services were conducted at Warner Chapel in Spencer on Tuesday, July 3, for George Francis Holtz. The clergyman was Pastor Craig Ause.
Pallbearers were Douglas Holtz, Gilbert Holtz, Randy Holtz, Steve Holtz, Daniel Holtz and Dennis Holtz.
The honorary bearers were Ernest Kickers, Kenneth Rickers, Donald Rickers, Bob Roeder, Leo Studer and Dale Adolf.
Burial was at Harrison Township Cemetery near May City, Iowa.
George Francis Holtz, the son of Rudolph and Hannah Langhand Holtz, was born on January 27, 1906, in Hammond, Indiana. He moved to the May City area at an early age and it was in May City that he received his education. Following schooling, he started to farm in the May City area with his parents.
George married Lucille Meyer on September 5, 1938, in Ocheyedan. After their marriage they continued to farm three miles east of Business Comer near May City. In 1956 he retired and moved to Spencer, where he had made his home since.
Mr. Holtz was confirmed and baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church of May City.
George passed away on Saturday, June 30, 1979 at his home in Spencer, at the age of 73 years, five months and three days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille on January 30, 1978; one brother and one sister.
Mr. Holtz is survived by one sister in-law, Luella, Mrs. Walter Holtz of Everly; two nephews and their wives, Gilbert and Virginia Holtz of Everly, Douglas and Avonelle Holtz of Melvin; other relatives and friends.
