Graves' Services Are Held Monday

Rev. J.A. Rotschafer in Charge at Rites

Funeral services for Hiram Graves were held from the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. J.A. Rotschafer in charge. Burial was in the Sibley cemetery. (Holman Cemetery)

Hiram Graves, oldest son of Bonchert Graves, was born at Siemenswold East Friesland, Germany, September 27, 1873. He passed away November 5 after three weeks of intense suffering following a major operation at Rochester. He was 64 years old.

The deceased came to this country with his parents in 1880 when he was but seven years old. The family located first at Carroll County near Breda. It was there that he grew to manhood and was united in marriage to Lena Wessels at Sac City.

Mr. Graves came to Sibley in 1894 where he resided until 1918 when he moved to Worthington.

Those surviving are his six children: Mrs. A.E. Olson of Valparaise, Neb., Mrs. J.A. Eddy, Wessel, Theodore, Bernard and Margriete (Marguerite), all of Minneapolis, Minn. He also leaves three brothers: Peter of Traer, Barney of Cloverdale, Theodore of Wilmington, Cal., and two sisters; Mrs. Will Turk and Mrs. Edward Wiedenhoeft of Minneapolis and nine grandchildren.
