Maxine “Kathryn” Taggart, 90, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Whiting Christian Church, Whiting, Iowa, with Pastor Jed Shermer, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Kathryn’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Harrison Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa. A visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Maxine Kathryn Taggart was born January 25, 1934, in Monona County, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Aileen (McGee) Taggart. She graduated from Whiting High School in Whiting, Iowa. Kathryn attended Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Bible.

Kathryn was very proud of the family farm where she lived her whole life, and she continued to oversee its successful operation with help from good friends. Kathryn found special joy in her dog companion, in her long-time interactions with young people, and in her devotion to Christian missionary work.

She was a very highly respected teacher for Sunday School and youth groups at the Whiting Christian Church where she was a member her entire life.

Kathryn loved the Bible and was very knowledgeable of Scripture. She was a strong supporter of Ozark Christian College and influenced a number of young people to attend Bible college. She also promoted Good News Productions, a global missionary agency also based in Joplin, Missouri.

Survivors include her friends, neighbors, community members, and her church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Aileen (McGee) Taggart, and many other family members and friends.

Memorial gifts in Kathryn’s honor may be made to Ozark Christian College, Good News Productions, or Room For Doubt.
