Dennis “Denny” C. Weiland, age 91 of Mapleton, Iowa (formerly of Earling, Iowa) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Earling, Iowa. Father Andrew Windschitl will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery of Earling, Iowa, with Military Rites.

A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Earling, Iowa.

The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Dennis Christopher Weiland was born to Arthur and Mary (Kenkel) Weiland in Earling, Iowa, on September 18, 1933. Denny was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earling being both baptized and confirmed there. He also attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Earling.

Following his graduation, Denny enlisted in the United States Army and attained the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War conflict. After his enlistment, he returned back to the family farm.

Over the years, he raised corn, soybeans, pigs, and cattle. In the early 90s, he retired from farming. He sold his farm and moved to Mapleton Iowa.

Denny enjoyed rooting for his Chicago Cubs, sitting under his tree, and visiting with his neighbors and friends. Denny loved to reminisce about the past and always asked what was going on in the neighborhood.

Survivors include many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Weiland; and sister Darlene Beebe.
