Ronald Dean Hahn, or RD as he liked to be referred to, was born February 10, 1951, the only child of Norman and Pearl Hahn. He grew up in Mapleton, Iowa, having a very close relationship with his cousins and other family members. He attended Maple Valley Community School. Ronald participated in band, golf, speech club and was a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated Cum Laude as a senior in 1969.
After high school, in 1970, he enlisted in the Iowa Air National Guard, where he eventually worked at the 185th Air National Guard in Sioux City, Iowa, as an Avionics Quality Control specialist. Ron’s only child, his daughter, Kacee Anne, was born in 1983. In the following years, besides working at the 185th, he spent time collecting antiques, which he truly had an eye for. Ronald would repair and refurbish tricycles and pedal tractors, refinish furniture and go to toy shows.
Ronald had a great love for cars, especially Porche’s and Fords, and took pride in taking care of his vehicles. He enjoyed watching The Three Stooges, the Marx Brothers, and Westerns, along with NASCAR and his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed helping people in the community with yard mowing, which he did with his daughter. Another love of his was music. He enjoyed playing the accordion as well as listening to “oldies”, especially Buddy Holly.
Unfortunately, Ronald was involved in a car accident in 1999 which led to him being honorably discharged from the 185th, due to disability. He was a Master Sergeant at the time of his retirement. That, however, didn’t hinder him from touching people’s lives. He truly had a way with people and anyone who met Ron, liked him. He was good at telling stories about his life, which people enjoyed listening to, even towards the end of his life.
Ronald is survived by his daughter Kacee Anne Hahn of Mapleton, Iowa; his grandchildren Daniel, Katie, Jordan, Baylee, and Ayden; as well as his cousin Gary (Jill) Hahn and their sons, Andrew and Aaron, Glenda Hahn, and other numerous cousins; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Pearl Hahn; his grandparents; grandson Christopher; aunts and uncles Herb (Gwen) Hahn, Pauline (Bill) Botsford, Juanita (Ralph) Bachmann, Genevieve (Waldo) Rickert, Henry (Margaret) Hahn, Francis (Jeannie) Hahn, Herb Ernst, Fern (Fred) Schnoor, and Juanita Thies; and other cousins.
