Alvin & Alice Larsen

We live on a farm a few miles north of Castana, Iowa, that we bought and moved here in 1941. Our parents lived on farms in the Castana area, too. Alvin’s parents were Beck and Johannah Larsen. They retired and lived in Buellton, California and now both deceased. My parents, Jens and Dagmar Nikolaisen Jensen were married on February 14, 1904. They live on their farm south of Turin until the spring of 1914 when they moved to a farm they bought a few miles north of Castana, Iowa. My sister, Iva was born February 16, 1905. I was born December 15, 1906, and brother, Maurice, July 28, 1912. We went to country school, until the schools around Castana were consolidated with the Castana School. Iva, Maurice and I graduated from Castana High school. Our parents are both deceased. Alvin and I had five sons; Norman graduated from Castana in 1953, Arne in 1954, Milo in 1956, Alan in 1960. Eric was through the 2nd grade when he became ill with leukemia and passed away July 8, 1954. Our sons are married. Norman lives in Sacramento, California, Arne in Aloha, Oregon, Milo in Marshalltown, Iowa, Alan in Clearfield, Iowa. We have fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
