TEMPERANCE DAY OF PRAYER
Special day of prayer by the Women’s Temperance Unions of Mahaska county was held in the First Christian church February 21. Mrs. Albert Rinden, president, presided and the program was built around “Happiness, Confidence and Trust.” Morning session opened with song. Mrs. J.E. Laughlin of Elm Grove union presented a meditation, Mrs. James Augustine read a poem and Mrs. Mary Walthall spoke on “Family Devotions.” Mrs. James McLandsborough of Frances Willard union, read the 100th Psalm and offered prayer; Mrs. C.D. Nash brought the message “Commit They Way Unto the Lord.” Mrs. Margaret Gilmore gave the noontide prayer. During the dinner hour, two violin solos were played by Miss Virginia Beach, accompanied by Horace Bayless.
