Mrs. Elsie Manning of Van Meter and her mother Alma McKinney and brother-in-law Dale McKinney of St. Charles went to Atlantic on Friday to attend the funeral of Russell Andersen. The funeral was held at Roland Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. and graveside services were at Blair Chapel near St. Charles at 2:00.

Dale McKinney received the news of the death of his brother-in-law, Mr. Andersen of Atlantic. Funeral services were Thursday in Atlantic, with burial at Blair Chapel, north of St. Charles.

Funeral services for Russell V. Andersen, 77, Brayton area farmer, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Roland Funeral Home, here, with the Rev. Robert W. Lang of Brayton Lutheran Church officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Blair Chapel Cemetery northwest of St. Charles.

Mr. Andersen died early Tuesday morning at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, where he had resided a short time.

Mr. Andersen was engaged in custom corn shelling for a number of years and retired in 1969. The son of Andrew and Anna Nielsen Andersen. He was born near Elk Horn July 1, 1902, and was reared on a farm north of Atlantic. He attended Pymosa School No. 1.

Mr. Andersen was married to Marie Petersen McKinney Sept. 21, 1967, in Audubon and they lived for a short time at the Exira Care Center until her death Aug. 27, 1977. He then returned to the farm south of Brayton and entered the Cass County Memorial Hospital May 24 and was admitted to the Salem Nursing Home June 6.

Surviving are an uncle, Martin Andersen Sr. of Huron, S.D., two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lillian Andersen of Chalfon, Pa., and Mrs. Fanney Anderson of Grand River; two nephews, G. Kent Anderson of North Wales, Pa., and Mark Anderson of Coopersburg, Pa.; five nieces, Mrs. Alex (Linda) Black of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Dale (Ruth) West of Grand River, Mrs. Bill (Anna) Roberg of Castana, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Cade of Simi, Calif., and Mrs. Read (Betty) Elwell of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; six great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his mother who died June 22, 1920, his father, who died May 9, 1931, two brothers, Glen W. and Harvey R. Andersen, and a sister, Olive Andersen.
