Mrs. Elizabeth Brooker died last Thursday at the home of her son, C. J. Brooker, west of Minburn. Funeral services were held at Van Meter on Sunday, conducted by Rev. R. R. Moser of this place and interment was at Fairview cemetery, south of that place.

Mrs. Brooker was born at Garnaville, Iwa, May 18, 1848, and was aged 80 years, 6 months and 4 days. She was married to George Brooker Nov. 22, 1865, at Colesburg, Iowa.

She was the mother of six children, Clinton Brooker, Mrs. Minnie Williams of San Juan, Texas, Elmer Brooker of the same place, Orville Brooker, Ledey, Okla., Nelson Brooker, Van Meter, and Irene May who died in infancy. Those living children except Orville were with her when she died.

Mrs. Brooker was an earnest Christian woman, highly respected by all who knew her and was among the early settlers of the county in the vicinity of Van Meter.

Mr. Elmer Brooker and Mrs. Minnie Williams of Texas, came to attend the funeral of their mother.

Mr. Brooker’s mother died at her home Thursday morning, funeral was at Van Meter Sunday afternoon.
