Michael L. Jurgens, 56, of Winterset, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola.
He was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1968 and adopted by Dennis and Jane Jurgens of Winterset, Iowa, at five weeks of age. He was baptized at the First Christian Church in 1978. Mike was a 1986 graduate of Winterset High School. He graduated from Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City, Iowa, as a certified meat cutter and worked at grocery stores in Lincoln, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa.
Mike married Dani Welch in 1993 and they divorced in 2018. A beautiful daughter, Sandra Jane was born in this union in 2006.
He loved the outdoors and ice fishing at the Boundary Waters.
Due to ongoing health problems, Mike, retired from Iowa Fire Equipment in Des Moines as a warehouse manager. He has resided at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola since 2019.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Frieda of Belmond and William and Ruby Arnold of Red Oak; uncles and aunts, Nick and Linda Sheehan of Belmond and Beverly Chambers of Indianola.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Jane of Urbandale; parents, Dennis and Jane Jurgens of Winterset; brother, Douglas of St. Charles; uncles and aunts, Lynn and Rebecca Jurgens of Forest City and Robert and Mary Arnold of McClelland; a niece and nephew; and several cousins.
A visitation celebrating Mike’s life will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2025, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Burial will be in the Clark Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the family for a future designation.
