Elizabeth Marguerite Shields

CALDWELL - Elizabeth Marguerite Shields, 74, of Caldwell, died Tuesday, June 10, 1986, at her home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Pastor John Sinclair of the Caldwell First Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.

Mrs. Shields, a decorator, was born Dec. 8, 1911 at Madison County, Iowa, a daughter of Enoch H. and Nettie Winship. She was reared and educated in Iowa and later attended the College of Idaho. She married Bert Shields on Oct. 22, 1928, at Winterset, Iowa. They moved to Marsing in 1941. Her husband died in Feb. of 1946. In 1954, she moved to Caldwell. She worked many years for the J. R. Simplot Company and later owned and operated her own interior decorating business until 1981, when she retired due to ill health.

She was baptized at the Marsing Church of the Nazarene, and at the time of her death was an active member of the Caldwell First Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons, Ercell Bert Shields of Boise, Eldon E. Shields of Nampa and Harold Shields of Daly City, Calif.; two daughters, Norma Jean Shields of Caldwell and Helen L. Raymond of Boise; a daughter-in-law, Delores Shields of Marsing; a brother, Harry Winship of Osceola, Idaho (sic); a sister, Vivian Winship of Caldwell; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband a son Alfred “Bud” Shields, her parents and two brothers died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Organ Fund or flowers may be sent.

Transcriber's note: Transcribed as published. There is no "Osceola, Idaho" and brother Harry who supposedly lived there stayed in Iowa and is buried at Lorimor, Union County, Iowa.
