DONALD “DONNIE” SMITH - Bondurant

Donald “Donnie” Smith, 81, died at home on Sunday, July 17, 2005. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Elkhart. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Donnie was born in Spring Hill, Iowa, grew up in Ankeny, and lived most of his life in Bondurant. He worked for Moorman Feed Company and retired from Anderson Erickson Dairy. He was a member of St. Mary Holy Cross in Elkhart, Bondurant Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Rita Flannery Smith of Bondurant; two daughters, Mary Ann Hoffmans (Mike) of Houston, TX and Sheila Fay (Dan) of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Anne Joe and Will Hoffmans and Claire and Anna Fay; brother, Robert Smith of Bondurant; two sisters, Junadeane Webb of San Antonio, TX and Ruth Jamieson of Virginia Beach, VA; half-brother, Harold Brice of Kansas and half-sister, Alma Jones of Idaho.

Donnie’s family will receive friends from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Elkhart with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Holy Cross Building Fund for the kitchen in the new parish hall.
