ATALISSA - Rex E. Kitt, 73, of Attalissa, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998 at the Davenport Medical Center in Davenport. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Knox-Larson Funeral Home, 2106 Seventh Ave., Rock Island, Ill. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Rock Island.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mr. Kitt was born May 8, 1924, in Winterset, the son of Raleigh and Gladys Peterson Kitt. He married Eleanor Poma in 1942, in Rock Island. He married Mary L. Hildebrand Struble May 16, 1970 in Rock Island.
He worked as a supervisor in the woodworking department at the Rock Island Arsenal for more than 30 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 956, Rock Island, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2537 in Tipton, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 388 in Muscatine.
He was an avid bowler, especially with the Eagles traveling league. He enjoyed fishing, boating and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, three daughters, Karen Pritt of San Antonio, Texas, Rita Laurin, Rock Island, and Roxanne DeWulf of Muskego, Wis.; one son, Rex Kitt Jr. of Preemption, Ill.; three stepsons, Donald Struble of Crest Hill, Ill. David Struble Rock Island, and Gary Struble of Princeton; four grandchildren, nine step grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold.
