Lee Klug, 79, of Creston, died Monday, March 18, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Celebration of life service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Powers Funeral Home 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston, Ia. with full military honors being provided by Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post #1797.

Open visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday with family receiving friends will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to his family to be decided on later. Online condolences can be given at powersfh.com.

Leon “Lee” Francis Klug, son of Vincent Alphonse Klug and Veronica Christine (Burbach) Klug was born July 7, 1939 in Hartington, Neb. At a young age, his family moved to Iowa where Lee attended DeSoto Schools. Lee joined the U.S. Navy in 1956 and served his country until his discharge in 1960.

On December 31, 1974, Lee was united in marriage to Malinda Joe Farless at the Creston United Methodist Church. They settled in Creston where Lee was an over the road truck driver for Schneider Transportation for over 30 years. He retired briefly before being called back to the road to drive school bus for Creston Schools for 16 years. During those years he also mowed lawns and scooped walks finally retiring in 2017.

Lee was a member of the Creston United Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge #1398, American Legion Post #70, Teamsters Union Brotherhood of Truck Drivers local 147.

Lee is survived by his wife Linda Klug of Creston; two sons, Greg (wife Melody) Abbott of Creston and Chris (wife Amanda) Klug of Grimes; four grandchildren, Cassie (husband Kaleb) Bissell, Samantha Abbott, Aubree Klug and Caden Klug; one great-granddaughter Veda Jo Bissel; three brothers, Keith (wife Mary) Klug of Des Moines, Ia., Sidney (wife Jane) Klug of Patterson, Ia. and Lyle (wife Mikey) Klug of Lacona, Ia.;sister Vicki Cameron of Winterset, Ia; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, a son Stevie Klug, three brothers, Donald, Gayle, and Terry Klug and a sister Shirley Bush
