Donald Dean Brown, 84, of Waterloo, formerly of Winterset, passed away on January 15, 2025 at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo, Iowa.
Don was born on May 4, 1940 to Ernest and Anna (Hochstetler) Brown in Earlham, Iowa. He graduated from Earlham High School in 1959, and spent his lifetime between Earlham and Winterset.
Don and Joan Beaman were united in marriage on April 16, 1961, at the Worthington Church, in rural Madison County. He had been a member of the Worthington Church.
Don worked for Walker’s Cleaners for ten years, and then was a steelworker for Grip-Tite Manufacturing for 31 years. He loved camping, and building things for family and friends.
Don is survived by his children, Brian (Dena) Brown of Earlham and Teresa Brown of Winterset; 3 grandchildren, Claire Kersey (Austyn), Elizabeth Brown (Mike Blake), and Cassandra Brown (Cody Peek); great grandsons, Zeus and Anthony; great granddaughter, Paisley; and brother-in-law, Russell Beaman of Adel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; his sisters Mary Wildin and Lela Brown; sister-in-law, Ruth Beaman; and brother-in-law, Jay Wildin.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. The funeral service will be Monday, January 20, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.at Caldwell Parrish, Winterset Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Worthington Cemetery Association, 1845 152nd St., Earlham, Iowa, 50072.
