I have been searching for information on Laura D Stoltenberg. She was married to Herman Berkholtz who died in 1884. She had three children, william (wiltian), Cora Helen and Bessie. The two daughters attended Coe College and lived with thair fathers brother, William Berkholtz after their mother married Thomas Stoltenberg. Family rumour says that Cora was a twin and that her twin sister died of drowning......her father supposedly died trying to save this child, though I have found out since this is not the case. The mother, Laura D, was a woman of dubious reputation and was supposedly endicted in february 1902 of running a house of prostitution in Rock Rapids. Herman Berkholtz ran the flour mill with his brother William and at some point, Herman and his wife Laura donated the property that is now riverside cemetary. If you have any further information or can guide me to where i can find out more I would be very happy. Oh! Also, Laura was sentenced to three years in Anamosa state peneteniary.
Thank you for your help,
