Family Bible

Does anyone know what usually happened to the family bible after the last person in the family died??

Kitty Gardner died in Rock Rapids in 1952. She was the last member of the family around there.

The following was written about her mother, Emma in her Obit.(1925)

As a young girl, Mrs. Gardner associated herself with the Church of Christ, and was an active member until her death. She was a teacher in the Bible school from the age of 15 until a few weeks prior to her death.
