Have you looked at "History Reminiscence and Biography of Lyon County, Iowa 1904-1905? It has much on the Whiteheads but I did not see a maiden name for Mrs. Whitehead.
It did list the date of Ida's marriage as 1875. In 1876 Henry O. married Francis V. Brooks.
Sorry I couldn't help more. Possibly contact someone on the Lyon County Historical Society in Rock Rapids and they might be able to help you more. There is a link to the Historical Society on the Lyon County GenWeb page.
