Alfred Hanson of Rock Island Succumbs at 71

Alfred Hanson, 71, of 1149 26th St., Rock Island, was pronounced dead on arrival at 8:20 this morning at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Rock Island.
The body was taken to the Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, where funeral arrangements are pending.

Mr. Hanson was born Oct. 23, 1899, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Knut and Julia Gilbertson Hanson. He attended schools in Rock Rapids and had been a Rock Island resident for over 30 years.
He married the former Wanda Sims May 5, 1924, in Unionville, Mo.

Mr. Hanson had been employed at the Iowa-Illinois Tire Co., Davenport, for the past 25 years.
He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, and was an Army veteran of World War I.

Surviving is the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Baker of Rock Rapids; a son, Jerry E. of Rock Island; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five sisters. Miss Linda Hanson, Mrs. Mary Zeug and Mrs. Amelia Moeller, all of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Julia Durham of Lemon Grove, Calif., and Mrs. Clara Anderson of Santee, Calif., and a brother, Olaf of Beresford, S.D.

He was preceded in death by a son and three brothers.
