Rites at Alvord for Henry Junge

Last rites were conducted Monday from the home and at Christ Lutheran Church in Alvord for Henry Junge Sr., who died at his home near Alvord last Thursday, Oct. 16. Rev. A. E. Sommer conducted the services, with Lockwood in charge. The Lutheran choir provided music.

Burial was in the Alvord cemetery, with Richard, Henry and Paul Bahrenfuss, Charles and John Vonder Lieth, and H. J. Kroger serving as pallbearers.

Born in Germany

Henry Junge was born February 13, 1866, in Hanover, Germany, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 16, he came to this country, settling in Davenport For several years he lived in Tama county.

When he was 20 years old, Mr. Junge moved to Lyon County, traveling across Iowa with a wagon and team. In 1894 he acquired a farm between Alvord and Larchwood, where he has since made his home. In 1896 he was married to Cathrine Schmidt and two children were born to the couple; John, now living in Boone, and Minnie (Mrs. William Wandersee) of Delano, Minn. Mrs. Junge died in 1911, 15 years after their marriage Both children survive.

Mr. Junge was again married on November 27, 1911, to Louise Schultz, and six children, all surviving, were born to this union Henry Jr of Alvord, William of Sioux City, Fred of Brookings, S. D., Annie (Mrs. John Towne) of Alvord, Louise (Mrs. Jack Kuper) of Ellsworth and Marie (Mrs. Clifford Fitchner) of Muscatine. His widow and 18 grandchildren also survive One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
