David Madison Perkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Perkins, was born at Pleasant Grove, Iowa, Sept. 22, 1867 and passed away at his home here in Wapello, June 12, 1915, aged 47 years, 8 months and 20 days. He was married Sept. 18, 1891, to Mary E. Allen, who remains to mourn his death. During January, 1914, he took sick but did not commence to doctor till in March. His disease was of such a nature as to exclude all hope of recovery from the first, but with fortitude and patience he bore his suffering. His suffering became so great at the last that he had to be kept under the influence of opiates. At 7:20 Saturday morning without a struggle he quietly fell asleep.

Last November he accepted Christ as his Savior and requested Rev. McBlain to baptize him and to receive him into the church, which was done. He gave evidence that he was saved, by his life and conversation. He leaves besides his wife, his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Perkins, Three brothers, James of Toolesboro, Marsh of New London and Alexander of Collidge, Kansas and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Westfall of Davenport, Ia. The funeral services where held in the First Methodist church on Sunday at 2 p. m., where a large crowd gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. Rev. McBlain preached the sermon. The interment was in Wapello cemetery.
