Chas. Linder was born in Sweden, July 10, 1846 and died at his home after an illness of four months, April 9, 1915, aged sixty-eight years and nine months. He came to America in the year 1869 and later settled on a farm six miles west of Morning Sun, Iowa and remained there until his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Johnston July 6, 1875. To this union were born seven children, two sons and two daughters have preceded him in death. Two sons, Oscar and Herbert and one daughter, Mrs. Mary McCaw all living near home, together with his widow and one sister, Mrs. Lena Peterson, six grandchildren and his many friends remain to mourn his death.

He was converted about the year 1885 and united with the Free Methodist church soon after, of which he remained a faithful, active member until his death. He expressed himself several times during his sickness as desiring to depart this life to be with Jesus. He passed out of this life just as he had lived, in the triumph of the christian faith. The funeral services were conducted at his late home by Elder T. M. Fenwick, assisted by the pastor, Rev. F. A. Mayfield. The remains were laid to rest in the Morning Sun cemetery Sunday afternoon.
