Ethel Verne Halstead, oldest daughter of Joseph and Hannah Halstead, was born at Dixon, Ill., May 11, 1874, and died at Oakville, Iowa, October 16, 1912. On September 28, 1898, he was united in marriage with Dr. Richard Ditto. To this union four children were born, Richard, Geraldine, Darlyne and Justine. Little Justine died five years ago last February. At an early age she united with the First Presbyterian church in Dixon, later changing her membership to the Christian church. Besides her husband and three children, she leaves an aged mother, one sister and many friends to mourn her death. Funeral services were held at the home in Oakville Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Revs H. E. Butler and A. S. Covert. Her remains were taken to her childhood home and laid to rest beside those of her little sister and of her father.
