Page 3Oakville Sentinel: Rosa Mellinger, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Mellinger, was born March 19, 1877; died September 1st, 1912, aged 35 years 5 months and 12 days. At the age of 2 years an affliction came into her life and for the last fifteen years she has been in the hospital at Mt. Pleasant. About six weeks ago she was brought to the home of her parents in Oakville where everything possible was done for her comfort. The last few months she had been suffering from tuberculosis, which was the immediate cause of her death.
Besides her aged parents she leaves to mourn her loss the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Barbara Kramer, of Banecroft, Wis.; Mrs. Lizzie Linder, of Bloomfield, Montana; Henry, Frank, George and Charles, of Oakville and John of Bancroft, Wis. Four sisters and one brother preceded her in death, Margaret, Emma, Dora and Anna and Fred.
At the age of 12 years she united with the M. P. church of this place and afterward joined the Catholic church in Peoria, Ill. She lived a christian life until her death. She said on the death bed that Jesus' promises were sweet to her and she knew she had a home in Heaven. Funeral services were held from the M. E. church in Oakville Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Harvey E. Butler and her remains were laid to rest in the Creighton cemetery.
