Martin Shaum, a long time resident of this county, passed away at his home west of Columbus City Monday morning at an early hour. Two weeks ago he suffered from two strokes of paralysis and had been nearly helpless since, thought his demise was not expected at this time, and came as a terrible shock to his aged wife and all his friends. Mrs. Shaum had just given him his breakfast, of which he had eaten heartily,and was assisting him to lie down when she observed that a change came over him and in twenty minutes life was extinct.
