Mrs. Catherine Elrick, wife of J. W. Elrick, died at the family residence Sunday morning about 9 o'clock. Her maiden name was Wycoff. She was born in Muskingum Co., Ohio, April 27, 1822, which would make her 85 years and 22 days old at the time of her departure. She was married to J. W. Elrick April 4, 1843, a little more than 64 years ago. They celebrated their sixtieth anniversary April 4, 1903. Mr. and Mrs. Elrick resided in Keithsburg, Ill., until about thirty years ago, when they came to Iowa and purchasing a farm in Eliot township, lived on it until a few years ago when the aged couple bought a property in Wapello and removed hither.

Mrs. Elrick was a quiet, unpretentious woman, who found her life work principally in the home where she ever reigned by her gentleness and sweet disposition. In life she was an acceptable member of the Presbyterian church, having united with that organization while a resident of Keithsburg, many years ago. Deceased was the mother of twelve children. Two died in infancy and one George A., died in early manhood. Those living are: Aeolos J, of Cheyenne, Wyo; Leonidas J., of Wichita, Kan.; Herbert J., of Seaton, Ill., Lizzie J. Berry, of Topeka, Kan.; Fred C., of Elrick Junction; James W., of Colorado Springs, Co.; Susan M. Peck, of Elrick; Alice Jamison, of Newport; Kate C. Ogle, of Bloomington, Ill. All were present excepting Jas. W., A. J. and Herbert J., latter being in Canada at the time of his mother's death. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Koopman. Interment in the Wapello cemetery.
