Sue - I don't know that I can really help with your question, however, the surname Newberry crosses paths with my family of Reid. There was an Amanda C. Newberry who married Lafayette W. Reid, in Charleston, IO, in 1857 (this is pretty close to Montrose, I think, but I'm not looking at my map right now). Amanda's parents were Albion (or Albin/Abram)Newberry and Sarah W.(?), and I know that Albion died in Charleston, Lee County, Iowa in 1868. One of their children, Amanda mentioned above, was born in 1838, and she had other siblings as well, however, I don't see a Harriett. I may have a few more notes burried in my stacks of family stuff about this particular Newberry family, and if I run across anything about a Harriett, I'll let you know. Good luck!
