I hope what I located for you helps identify whether or not this is your ancestor.

This "David Wilson" is from Mills County, Iowa.

Counterfeiting is a federal crime so sentencing was in a federal court.

U.S. District Court -- Southern District of Iowa
January 26, 1893

The federal court at Keokuk [Judge Woolson] sentenced David Wilson of Mills county to six months imprisonment and to pay a fine of $500 for issuing an imitation $10 bill for advertising purposes.

This court is currently in Davenport, Iowa and no longer in Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa
