I'm looking for Hiersteins/Hersteins/Herstines who immigrated to Lee County Iowa in the 1840s. Especially looking for information re Henry/Heinrich or Jacob and his wife Elizabeth. Jacob lived in Lee County from 1844 until the Civil War. He returned to Fort Madison after the War and the Iowa Federal Census of 1870 shows him living in the Third Ward with his wife, Elizabeth, who was 39 and born in Pennsylvania. In about 1895, Jacob moved to the National Military Home in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, but I have no other information re Elizabeth.
